I see that most people agree that it is not currently in China's best interest to attack us, but it is very possible in the future. As the US loses its iron grip on the world economy and as its military strength is dwindled as we fight all around the world, they will attack us.
If nothing else, they will take over the US in time... We owe them so much in money and services that they will want us to pay up at some point. Just like a loan shark, when we can't pay they will take some property and break some knee caps.

I do not think that China will do this, it will be sad if they did. They will have to execute a preemptive strike on the US Navy. The Carrier Battle Groups are no joke. When former Prez Clinton was notified that there was a problem abroad that can affect the US, he asked " where is the closest carrier group right now". They can do a decisive strike almost anywhere in the world. Also, if the liberal party's plan to disarm the law abiding citizens of the US, then they will have an easier time of taking over the continental US. Please note: the Chinese Army has at least 1 million soldiers on active duty and at least 10 million serving the reserves. The US has roughly about 500,000 soldiers on active duty and less that number on the reserves. Many of these numbers are serving outside of the US. So if the law abiding citizens are not armed, who will defend our homes? The National Guard? The Police? They will all be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers that the Chinese can muster. This is what I envision that can happen. Do I want this to happen? I do not want this to happen, ever! I hope that we can have peace and harmony with all the countries in the world. Good luck to us all.

Nah, it would never do so. Right now, the biggest thorn in China's flesh is India, though they wouldn't admit it. Though both India and China are on friendly terms, however, it's India which is progressing at a scorching pace (Yesterday, an Indian woman was declared next CEO of Pepsico) and is bound to leave all its neighbours way behind in southeast Asia in less than a decade. i had a chance of going there and was amazed to see the way the local businessmen have thwarted the competition from Chinese goods which had started flooding the market. They simply came out with better and cheaper goods for their domestic market. I guess, I have drifted from the question but, it's important to understand the situation in the subcontinent. Just to add a bit more, the India - U S nuclear deal has further deteriorated any such chances, (China attacking U S) as it would have to handle a very potent nuclear state in its own backyard.

China will never go about invading other countries until they get cocky and arrogant like United States. U.S. has been the aggressor more than China. I don't have the crystal ball but looking at the history, U.S. did more of the fighting than China. I'm not old enough to know the entire history but didn't China only fought with us once because they were defending North Korea their neighbor only because we were getting too close to their territory? And how about us, the mighty U.S., didn't we attack North Vietnam, Cuba, Lybia, Iraq. Sure you can say they provoked us but we weren't dragged into those wars, it was our choice. We didn't have to fight in Vietnam. Look at Vietnam now, they're doing ok without us and being communist. They'll trading with us and you get to travel there now. So the death from us bombing and what have you, they seemed to have been in vein? I don't like wars unless it's absolutely necessary and you're pushed into the corner. The WWII was necessary because we couldn't let the Nazis take over Europe but Vietnam??? And now this Iraq fiasco??? This Iraq war was definitely wasn't necessary. So the more appropriate question should be, "How many countries will U.S. attack unnecessarily before China steps in to defend themselves or their neighbors." One last note, Korean war was necessary because looking at the North Korea today they are definitely evil and I'm sure China is sort regretting the fact that they help N. Korea in the past. But I don't think they had any choice back then.

Its not going to happen China is quickly becoming a major economic power and in the process could eventually become more democratic. This will probably gather pace with the demise of the old guard and the continual westernisation of the business and the professional classes. Given both its size and its vast population I would envisage a slow but steady movement towards a Federal Democratic China. This surely would benefit mankind as a whole.

Why would they invade military style - They are going to buy the US and te invasion will take place over decades of imigration.
The rest of the world hasn't got a hope of defeating them that way The ratio of China's population to America's is what 1 billion to a quarter of a billion - 1 to 4

The US couldn't invade China, we could maybe bomb it, but then again, that's a bit extreme. The US is generally stand-off-ish and doesn't like to make the first move. I know Afghanistan and Iraq, OK, but some try and justify it with 9/11. I think, thoough, that we'll leave CHina alone as it seems to be gradually becoming a capitalist state....

IF China is really interested in dominance, they should adopt the same strategy to defeat the US that the US used to defeat the Soviet Union: Wait them out, and through their own corrupt system they will destroy themselves.
If anyone thinks that the US economy will still be solvent after the baby boomers are finished getting the feds to pay for their retirements, you've got another think coming.

I once had that thought. However, I am encouraged by the diplomacy that I see of responsible men and women worldwide. Also, China knows better than to bite the hand that feeds it. Without democracy and the U.S. economy, there is no income to buy up their consumer goods. And although the population is growing, it will soon stagnate due to a very lopsided women-to-men ratio. Plus, many of their populations are destitute, poor, and out of reach of the cities, not necessarily the makings of a stellar army.

China could never invade America. It is not logistically possible...They have no Navy or air force that could not be blown away by the American War Machine...Never forget young one, we live in the most powerful country that has ever existed. Our economy is about 3 times that of China and our military is about 10 times the size.. NO country or group of countries dare risk OPEN WAR with the United States...Its suicide...Make no mistake...the USA is literally invincible from outside invasion...
