this is how i am dressed right now, at work, on a boring wednesday. keep in mind, i am allowed to dress in jeans to work, but i do it with style. i am wearing a yellow polo shirt, blue with yellow trim belt, eddie bauer BLue jeans, jean LOOKINg" thongs, and my yellow, blue and grey new balance tennis shoes. but one thing to keep in mind, always match your panties to your outfit, cause you would hate to get into a wreck with red thongs and a tan outfit.. if i were a paramedic i would make a comment for people not matching..

Ok, anyone with any fashion consciousness whatsoever will tell you that the "matchy-matchy" thing is a no-no. Today's fashions are all about cut, style, fabric and color but not matching from head-to-toe. Its fine for a belt and shoes to match or belt and purse or purse and shoes. But sometimes you just have to play around a little. You'll be surprised if you try on outfits in front of a full length mirror and play around with shoes and accessories what you can come up with. Wearing an oversized purse in a color such as red or white could really spice things up instead the old standby black and brown bag that you feel safe with. I usually create my outfits in my head that way I just go to the closet and pull what I need and then lay it out. Looking through fashion mags always help and watching or obtaining copies of fashion shows gives great ideas as well because some colors look good together that you would have never thought of on your own.

I only follow the dressy top/dressy bottom. and casual top with casual bottoms rule.
Other than that, I just do my own thing. In the fall/winter, if I'm going to wear sandals to the club, I wear them with trouser socks. People tell me not to do it, but having my feet from getting too cold comes first. My first thing is dressing for the weather. I don't worry about matching my purse or my socks or my shoes with my outfits. I just do whatever.
I have eclectic style myself. Sometimes I'll dress hippie, sometimes glamorous, sometimes sexy (but I leave things to the imagination! LOL!), sometimes like a hard rock girl (complete with fake hair that comes in green, blue, purple, pink, yellow). On very rare occasion do I dress casual. I can, however, put together casual stuff and make myself look dressy. I don't wear pants much; I'm more of a skirt/dress person. In colder weather, I have thermal tights (from Sears) to keep me warm. There was this one time I looked like a hippie AND a rock chick at the same time. But I'm not a hippie, even though I'm TOTALLY for world peace.
Fun/good question!

My undergarments have to match.
Shirt has to go with the pants I'm wearing (dressy shirt- dressy pants)
Shoes have to be black or at least match/suit the colour of my outfit. I usually wear a lot of dark clothes so it's kind of mandatory. Don't get me wrong I like my light colours too, but there has to be a specific reason for me to wear something light (hello summer!!)

I'm not so much for matching. I wear purple and orange together. I'm still not one for the black and brown ordeal. Sometimes the best way to make a good outfit is to make it something people wouldn't predict.

Well, i usually try to keep it 3 colours maximum. But some colours just don't go...
For example:
Black and brown
Purple and orange
But don't be so strict with the rules, no ones gonna frown at you if you are wearing 4 different colours or two colours you though didn't go but actually do.

i think your outfit shouldn't contain more than 3 or 4 colors, or it would basically mismatch and look messy. i dont really watch out for all the details on how to match, but i try to create an harmonized look and doesn't stand out on some parts of my outfit. I try to avoid a look that has a theme that goes with it lol it really creeps me out, like BLACK and ORANGE, or RED WHITE BLUE, or RED WHITE GREEN. it just looks really stupid. black and white goes with any other color. i dont really care how the color of something specific im wearing matches or not, just the color of my whole outfit

Quite frankly, I don't care much for those kind of rules. I figure that I might as well be my own person when it comes to clothing and accessories and not care if others don't feel the same way.

often times, it extremely is authentic. you do no longer, I repeat do no longer desire to positioned on blue eye shadow with a blue shirt! it extremely is going to look great cheesy! it extremely is greater helpful to coordinate which comprise your eyes, yet no longer the comparable shade. Doing opposite colorations can accentuate your individual eyes: brown eyes or hazel eyes - positioned on blues or purples to stand out blue eyes - peach and brown tones will cause them to pop green - something yet green will look reliable
