yesterday was the first day of contact and i established myself as one of the hardest hitters. But, after one hit where i think i acciedentaly speared, i gota headache afterawards but didnt tell anyone about it becuase i thought it was normal. (i have played before). The headache went away after like 2 hours. Then when i woke up this mourning, my neck was so stiff and sore. I couldn;t move i t without it being really tight. I looked online and i found out that i had a sprained neck. should i continue practicing because it is the 2nd day of contact and if i dont practice i will lost the respect of my teammates and i will fall behind or should i just stick it out?

After reading a few of your questions, and your response to someone asking a serious question about properly preparing for freshman year of football "footbal already started like 2 weeks ago son" I feel like I know you pretty well. To avoid injury next time, you may want to look at the advice I gave him. As far as this injury goes I don't think you could go wrong if you stayed out of the hitting for a couple weeks. The work you do in those 2 weeks could help really define your fitness, and really put you above your teammates in an area other than just disregarding your body for a hard hit. Just imagine if you were not only the hardest hitter, but also had the most endurance. Work on your endurance. Run 6 miles while the others are working on hitting drills. AND work hard not to accidentaly spear ever again. Spearing is most dangerous to the other guy. You could rupture their kidney, like happened to my cousin, or break ribs. Do you really want to be the guy that ended someones highschool sports participation?

I wouldn't worry too much about losing the respect of your teamates, b/c A it shouldn't happen in the first place and B) if it does you can always win it back through hard work when you get from injury. There's no point in risking a neck injury, b/c its honestly something that could affect you for the rest of your life if you were to seriously injure it more.

Neck injuries are extremely intense and additionally remember to work out an orthopedic wide-unfold practitioner for an assessment. it relatively is possible you have herniated a disc, which will reason an entire life of hassle. actually end doing gymnastics and cheerleading till you have considered a bone wide-unfold practitioner. do no longer take this gently!

You need to follow your doctor's orders on whether or not you should play. If you haven't gone to the doctor, I suggest you do. You could have damage that can be worsened by continuing to play. Don't continue to practice until you are cleared by a doctor.

I would always be careful with self-diagnosing yourself with info from the internet. Talk with your trainer, or your coach as soon as you get to practice, or your parents.
