People don't like the truth. They aren't intrested in growing. All they care about is keeping there perceptions the same. Most people lack the imagination to grow and without an imagination all they see is the negative in what you say. They don't think, "Hmm he's right maybe I should do something about that."

The bible says, "The truth is as sharp as a two edged sword."

I believe that means it may cut the giver and the receiver! We need to study a situation so that we are offering fact and not just opinion. Often, in doing so, we will see that delivering the truth also cuts us to the core of our knowledge. We may also find ourselves lacking in the ability to disseminate truth and walk away unscathed! This experience may humble us some too.
Proverbs says, "A soft answer turns away wrath." I believe it also makes a bitter truth easier to take. Therefore, even when telling the truth do it in patience and kindness. These measures do not alter the truth, but make it more palatable.
Hope this helped.

We live in a world where the "outside" counts more than the "inside" and people tend to avoid the truth because we are "not perfect". You cannot be wrong by stating the truth but say it in a "nice" way!! Example when you look at a baby you said "the baby looks cute" which means that the baby is not that beautiful!! Or people said "I like my old car" instead of "I cannot afford to buy a new one"!!! The same thing as looking at a glass of water being "half full or half empty"

To answer your question, in today's "politically correct" society, it is considered the ultimate sin to offend anyone. We are so afraid of offending people, because we are conditioned to think of offending someone as the worst thing that could be done. We are conditioned to think that feelings are more important than facts.

I personally think that there are ways to be honest without destroying someone's feelings.

I hope that helps.

Some people just run into a word and lose their minds.

Others are so mentally inflexible they will brook no contrary opinions and will attack those people.
