You can go to www.ssa.gov and find information. You cannot order one online. You have to go in person, with documents to prove who you are. You used to be able to send the documents thru the mail, and they would send you a new one. But no longer.

Yes you can. But you must send the forms you get online (at ssa.gov) along with original documentation (drivers license, birth certificate, etc) to your local social security office. They will return your documents by mail, but it is safer to actually take the forms and documents to the office in person.

Apparently you can but it is going to cost you. One website I saw cost $13.99. And you can't be sure these places are legit. They could take your social security number and use it to rack up some big debts for you.
Your best bet is to go and stand in line with everyone else.

This has been asked before. No ! They need to see the person in person ! Other-wise I could apply for your card by mail. Make sense ?
