You're not going to like my answer but I think that piercing an infant's ears is a form of child abuse. Wearing earrings is purely cosmetic and not something that your four-month-old baby cares about at all. I would wait until the child is at least 12-years old and can make his/her own decision.
So to answer your question, I'd let the piercings close up naturally and let your child decide when/if to have it done.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG TO WAIT, BUT I SURELY WOULD NOT RE-PIERCE THEM BOTH. WHY KEEP PUTTING YOUR BABY THREW ALL OF THAT PAIN?

DON'T PIERCE YOUR BABY'S EARS WOMEN.
THAT IS A DECISION SHE SHOULD MAKE FOR HERSELF WHEN SHE IS OLDER. IT'S MUTILATION, JUST LIKE THE CIRCUMCISION ARGUMENT. LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Go to a professional piercing studio where a trained and licensed piercer will be able to pierce your ears with professional equipment. Going to a costume shop to get your ear pierced by a shop assistant who is not a professional body piercer will almost certainly lead to getting bad advice. If you want to pierce your own ear buy sterile body piercing needles from a reputable supplier and use them rather than an unsterilised ear ring. Forcing an ear ring through a closed piercing scar will be pretty painful, it will bleed excessively and take a long while to heal. A professional lobe piercing with a hollow sterile needle will heal faster and have a significantly lower chance of serious infection.

I am a girl, I had my ears pierced twice as a child and I had to let them heal up, but the holes never closed up and I still get infections. In my opinion, it was not worth it!! To this day I am earring free and love it! I use the magnetic ones when I want, it doesn't make my lobes sag and they don't infect my ears. I have two daughters and they can decide for themselves when they are adults whether or not to. It is there choice. And yes, I have a son too, and NO he is NOT circumcised. Why do it? Especially when males are soooo self conscience about not having enough length or not enough skin! I am proud to say my son always will! If it means my kids having the freedom to make a clear decision on their own when they are adults, I am proud to let them! Natural Beauty :) You are beautiful as you are!

Why don't you wait until she's sixteen years old so she can choose to have pierced ears or not? Sticking needles in a baby so she might look cuter is abusive in my opinion.
What if nobody pierces their ears when she grows up? You've left her scarred with ear holes and she will not appreciate it.
Please, let the baby be a baby and not an accessory!

I think that you should take them both out. Let the holes close up and heal properly and then go back and get them done by a professional.
Honestly, I think that the best place to get info would be in a good tattoo parlour that also does piercings. They will be able to tell you exactly what you should do.

i would leave in the one that is good and let the other heal for atleast 6 weeks before you get it repierced. There is no sence in making her go through 2 pokes when you can get away with one. Also, at that time the other will be ready to change the earring so you can still buy a pair and have matching ones.
