Some tips for reducing glare from your desk area:

* Beware of windows and bright lights that are a common source of glare on your monitor.
* Check for glare by turning your monitor off and look for reflections. Move your monitor screen or lower the light level.
* Make sure that the monitor is not in front of a bright window that can create uncomfortable contrasts and wash out the screen image. If repositioning your desk or monitor is not possible, install shades or drapes to control window brightness.
* Balance the brightness of your monitor and surroundings to eliminate extreme contrast between the screen and the area behind it. Strong contrast can cause headaches and vision problems.
* Take eye breaks every 15 minutes and look to a more distant scene that's 20 feet or more away.
* Keep a clean screen by cleaning it periodically with a recommended screen cleaner.
* Consider the benefits of using an anti-glare screen.

Using an anti glare screen

To avoid any monitor glare, it's always a good idea to consider a high quality glare filter. There are glare filters available for LCD and CRT monitors in various sizes. Many also incorporate other properties to help enhance a healthy computing environment.

* Many anti glare screens come with additional anti-radiation (for CRTs) and anti-static properties.
* If you require screen magnification, there are some glare filters which include magnification that will double the size of characters without distorting the image.
* Privacy screens are also available for LCD and CRT monitors that blur the screen image to anyone attempting to read the copy from the sides; frontal viewing is crisp and clear, however, so your are assured of working in the correct ergonomic position of directly facing your monitor.

GO to Office depot or Staples and buy an antiglare monitor cover. It will hang in front of the screen and cut down on the glare.

Good Luck

I had a monitor, forget the manufacturer, that had what it called "superbright" settings. There were settings to turn this mode off. Sorry I don't remember more details. If this isn't the case, then I think you have a monitor problem.

Glare back at it and see who gives in first. Perhaps try yelling some obscenities to rattle it's nerves. :-)

Its really you. The computer hates you because of what you did last summer. Kill it so there are no witnesses and buy a new one.
