...when you apply for a job, and they say "we'll call you" and then they don't? I mean, they don't say, "we'll call you if we want you" or anything like that. I think it's rude.

This guy I'm talking about, looked at my application and my resume, and looked at me and said..."I'll call you by Friday to set up an interview". Thinking I must have missed his call, I called him and left a message on his machine, and I also left a note on his door. Then it dawned on me, that obviously he was a rude, rude person.

I agree with you. I hired people for over 20 years, and I ALWAYS wrote them a letter once the position they applied for was filled. I felt that was only common courtesy. Unfortunately, not all employers agree with me.

I understand how you feel. However, it is not meant to be rude. While one person may come into an interview and appear to be the perfect candidate for the job, the person who comes in next may exceed what the employer thought he was looking for.
I agree the employer should say we have so many more people to interview and we may be calling you back on such and such a date. That way you know if they haven't called back by that date, someone else more qualified was hired.

yes, and while I agree with what everyone else has said, what would it hurt for them to call anyway and say "you were great, but we found someone else that was more qualified. We will keep your application on file and call you if anything else opens up". They used to do this in the "good ole days" and I thought that was very polite of them. After all, they don't call every applicant in for an interview, do they? Only the cream of the crop.

yes it very annoying!!!
wat dey sud do is atleast get your email adress or your postal one and send you a mail atleast saying that someone else has been selected for the post. its hardly very difficult in the first place.... if dey do it that way so many of us would be so much happier and waste lesser time hanging onto that 'we'll call you'. there are some companies who mail you but those are quite limited....These companies seriosuly need to respect people's time

Employers should at least have the decency to call you and let you know they hired someone else. I think its rather rude when they don't. If you can spend the time interviewing with them the least they can do is let you know you didn't get it.

I agree....nothing is more discouraging than sending out 55 resumes and filling out applications only to find out you "over-qualify" for a job......Now what the heck does that mean???? Right now I'm a housekeeper!!!!

Yeah, then I keep calling them back checking on the application, just to irritate them.

well, that is nice way to put in...
If I were you, after one job interview, and forget about it (after sending thank you email) and move on to the next one......
If they want you, they will call you. They don't have to say it. They probably say, see more people, and so on...
