Not necessarily true. I had the same situation.
I had my first baby 6 weeks early - no particular reason water just broke, 3 hr labor, very quickly. She was big for that gestation - 5 lbs 6 oz.
Next baby was 3 weeks early, same thing, no particular reason water just broke, 3 hr labor, very quick. She was 7 lbs 9 oz already!
You'd think the third would be fast and early too, right? Wrong, my son was right on time, two days before his due date. Water never broke, just got tired of being so huge and having endless mild contractions that went nowhere. Water never broke they had to break it but once they did FINALLY he was born - after 12 hrs of labor weighing 9 lbs!
I am also an OB nurse and have seen similar situations. One of my coworkers has four boys, one was early, a different one normal size but fast labor, the two others were big and right on time. You just never know.

That is true. I was on bed rest for early dialtion at 20 wks with both my kids. I mde it till 37 wks and 38 weeks with my kids but i went fast when i went. I was at teh hospital being induced at 7 O'clock and had the medicnce and epidural by 10 and at 12 40 my 6 lb 5 oz baby girl was born. My sone i went in at midnight was officially startd to induce at 5 and at 725 my son was born 7 lbs and 10 oz. At 36 week with both i was already dialted to 4. The chances are you will have this child early if prevois pregnancys were early. Good luck and i will pray you will hold off till term

RE:
What are the chances I will have my baby early?
I had my son 5 weeks ealry...my doctor said that normally when a woman goes early with her first she is likely to go early with all her children, my doctor said I make big babies, LOL, my son was 6lbs 7oz would have been about 11lbs had I gone full term. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

I only have the one that was born 12 weeks early but the doctors told me that if i became pregnant again there would be a 75 percent chance of having early labor.

A little higher than average, but not by much! If you've had one baby early (or late) you have a slightly higher chance of that re-occurring, but I certainly wouldn't count on it! I had my first almost a month overdue, and then asked my doc about the second being overdue... that's what I was told. Baby came EXACTLY on my due date! :) Good luck! Ivy

baby #1 38 weeks
baby #2 41.5 weeks
baby #3 37 weeks
baby#4 36 weeks
each pregnancy is different and you can't predict an early baby most of the time.

Babies come when they're good and ready - no rhyme or reason. A coworker of mine was 2 weeks early with her first, 3 weeks early with her second, and 10 days late with her third. Another friend of mine was ten days late with her first and two weeks early with her second.

Your chances of having your baby early, as an independent event not tied to your first birth, are 1 in 3.
You will either have your baby early. On time or late.
Statistically, 1 in 3.

I am currently pregnant with my 4th and my other 3 were born between 37-38 weeks and I have small babies all under 6lbs. So with the way things are happening with me now which happened with my previous pregnancies I am sure I will deliver between 37-38 weeks again.
