She wants to eat every two hours but i really try to push her to wait at least 3. She is already up to 6 ounces every feeding and i feel like im over feeding her. I havent tried cereal yet because my doctor says its to early and just feed her when she is hungry. Any suggestions?

My daughter was like this too. She came home from the hospital eating three to four ounces every 2 hours. She just drank and drank at four months old though she started to even out and not drink so much (she was already 17 pounds by then) Don't worry her metabolism will kick in and she will even out. Don't give her any food she is just to young and could develop allergies. Just keep feeding her if she is hungry. Be thankful so many babies are not good eaters so be happy.

I would have a talk with your doctor. And I would go ahead and put a little ceral in her bottles! I have two little sisters that was like your child. And we started them both on ceral at 5 weeks. I would though recommand that you use the baby rice at first. Since oatmeal is thicker, then rice. Also I wouldnt do it in every bottle cause then you will have the baby were she cant poop. If she does get in this position, then the bottles that have the cereal you can mix a teaspoon of DARK CORN SYRUP in. Or you can put a little baby food fruit in it like applesauce or prunes.
Also you might try feed her the cereal at breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a spoon and let her have a little milk in a bottle.
I know almost all doctors say dont do cereal or baby food before six months, but it is your child go with you thoughts and theories. My little sisters are now 3 and 4 and are totally health and still love to eat!
The best of luck! Mandy

Personally, I don't think 6 ounces is enough for an 8 week old. Plus, if she is a big baby she's going to want more food than a smaller baby. I have 3 children and the boys were both over 8 lbs at birth and my girl was almost 8lbs, and they all had very healthy appetites. I say just follow her lead. Doctors don't know everything.

Do what you feel in your gut is right for your baby. I would suggest introducing cereal maybe twice a day, breakfast & before bed.

I started my oldest daughter on baby food when she was 2 months old. My pediatrician told me I COULD NOT do that & that I had to take her off because babies can't have solids until 4 months old or later. I told her that I knew what my baby needed & I changed my ped. Every child has different needs. My daughter was drinking a full 9 oz bottle of formula with rice cereal in it & when she was done she would cry like she hadn't eaten anything at all.

My son started baby food at about 4 months which is when most docs say it is ok. My youngest 2 daughters both have eczema, very sensitive skin, allergies, & one of them had bronchialitis at 6 weeks old (which could have been an early sign of asthma thank goodness it wasn't). So with these sensitivities if I would have started them on baby food as early as my other children they would've been much more likely to develop food allergies. So they didn't get solids until almost 6 months.

The point to all of this is that every child has different needs. If you feel your baby is not getting full & needs more than just the formula then you should trust your instincts & start the rice cereal. Good luck.

You shouldn't give your baby cereal, I would try and wait until at least 3 months to 6 months on the cereal. Just feed your baby when shes hungry, thats all you can do.

he's not waiting for solids. He does no longer desire solids. he's a few distance too youthful for solids. You feed your toddler on call for. once you're formulation feeding, do not ignore that in case you've been breastfeeding, you doesn't be able to degree oz., and also you may want to believe that toddler is taking what he desires, even as he desires it. So, with formulation, you do the same. some grains of rice cereal (all you may want to probably get down him at this age) will no longer make him any a lot less hungry, or take the position of a bottle or 2 of formulation. you do not say how a lot formulation he takes in all (does he sleep longer at evening?) yet when it is less than 40-40 5 oz. or so an afternoon, he's merely about actually fantastic. If it is more effective than that, you may want to opt to seem into different causes for his crying. Are you constructive he's hungry an hour after a 6 ounce bottle? (even as maximum gained't devour if no longer really hungry, some children will take bottles even as provided, and drain them.) possibly he merely needs to suck? Or is gassy? Or bored? Or colicky? Or has reflux? possibly yet another ounce at his 'customary' dinner time might want to carry him longer. Nature doesn't study about rice cereal, so there is not any reason that nature (which assumes that youngsters will live on on milk on my own till they could devour 'actual' food) will make a toddler 'desire' floor rice at such an early age.

I would just keep her on formula at least till she is 4 months.

If you put cereal in the bottle the baby's stomach doesn't digest it it just sits in the stomach till it can break down. so your baby will not be hungry but won't get the nutrition she need and will have a stomach ache and probably not be able to poop.

When you do give cereal make sure it is by a spoon, because the saliva is what helps break it down.

8 week olds NEED to eat every couple of hours at LEAST - this is normal and does not signal that anything is wrong or that she is being overfed. It is way too early for cereal - her little tummy is too immature for it and if you try it you may live to regret it as it can cause her to experience painful gas, constipation, and other digestive trouble...

I know it's hard, but this period of constant eating does not last long... Try to hang in there!

You can also give your baby purified water in a bottle or a pacifier to satisfy her need to suck if her feedings are indeed more frequent than every 2hours.

Best wishes!

Your doctor is right. It's too early to start solids. Wait at least until she's 4months old. Much sooner and you run the risk of food allergies and her digestive system won't be able to handle them besides. Make sure she's getting no more than 32 ounces of formula every 24 hours. That's the proper amount.

You need to feed her every two hours, if that's what she's asking, otherwise you're going to have a very cranky and unhappy baby, not to mention many sleepless nights for you. I never worried about my babies weight, sure you don't want a 2 month old that weighs 40 pounds, my daughter weighed 26 pounds at 8 weeks and I asked her pediatrician if I should be concerned and he said no, babies need to be fed when they ask for it. She weighed 26 pounds until she was 2 years old, and that's fine. Don't let your baby be hungry just because you think it's too much food, feed her and she'll be fine.
