yep. i actually don't know people who don't-- and not just hands, i even wink to the person i'm talking to when i'm playful, even if he cant see me.. lol.. i guess it kinda makes the conversation more "real" on my end, like the person talking to me is right in front of me.

I did until I was on the phone one time and caught myself doing it and actually asked the person on the phone why I was doing that...

for indians hand and head motions is close to to be an element of the language itself! we arabs are very emotional and strikes our palms plenty too, especially once I communicate with this chilly language, english. my german boss liked it and began to do the comparable!

Yes, lots of inappropriate ones, like slitting my throat, flipping off the phone, shooting myself, and other inappropriate things.
