Because the best opportunities should be achievable based on merit, not on wealth. If a student has the drive to be a doctor, he should have that opportunity.
Because a nation such as ours should view any of its citizens going without basic living needs and health care as a national shame.
Because no one should have to break their backs for 30 years just to break even.
Because the planet will reject us if we continue to neglect it.
Because there are human rights abuses, sanctioned by this country, that need to stop.
Because it's time for Iraq to police itself.

Five years after 9/11, the Bush administration and Republican Led Congress has failed to keep us safe. Osama Bin Laden has still not been found, and it doesn't look like any one is trying to find him since we are now bogged down with the Iraq War fiasco. The war in Iraq is diverting attention from Protecting America from real Terrorists, A sentiment the 9/11 Commission agrees with. now the war in Iraq has inflamed the whole Middle East and is helping Al Qaeda gather new recruits and sympathizers. Katrina showed us all that the Republicans cannot protect us at home and seems not to care to protect us at home. The Republican led congress has not followed through on the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, and now the Republican political attacks during last weeks terror
threat are outrageous. The Republicans seem more interested in dirty politics than really doing anything constructive about the terrorist threat. The politics of doing nothing until something bad happens and then blaming your opponent is not working. We need real leadership with real solutions not the games we are currently getting from the Republicans.

Republicans! Republican.....repu..blicans.
keep your best answer.
I am a democrat because i believe.
I believe in the social contract that we all have to do our share to advance the societ as a whole.
I believe that the government is to serve the people, the government is the poeple and therefore have a role in the developement and preservation of society for the better.
government has no role in religion, in deciding issues of reprodcution, and gender of loved ones.
that society should protect its most vurnerable, that the notion of handouts is inaccurate, that your courntry is only as strong as the weakest people in it.
It has an moral obligation which also includes education.
that in order for the soicety to progress it need education, smart education funding not more test. retraining, daycare so parents can work. education for military for older workers.
and healthcare for all, because i do not believe that the private sector is the solution or cares about me compared to my income.
i think social darwinism is bunk, that there is no such thing as real capitalism. That regulation can be used to create fair markets and bust up monopolies..
protect consumers and protect workers from having thier pension used as profit in a numbers game.
i believe in capatlism but not a peverted vision of it.
I don't believe in vodoo economics that somehow defict spending that creates a birth tax or rather makes every baby born with a debt.....the country that owes much more than it takes in is bankrupt.
I don't believe in the concept of preemtive strike, for it has failed. The intellegence used was not reliale and still spread to the people. it has created a stituation worse than was started with.
A serious and honest look at the enviroment....this is not a joke the problems of the planet must be addressed and not dissmissed so oil companies can make profits.........
and lastly this country needs checks and balances one party rule of the three branches is not serving the intrest of the people has led to corruption without oversight.............
there is so much more.....if you still have doubts then good luck.
and vote no matter what either way.

You should decide which issues are the most important to you and find a candidate that thinks the same way you do and who you feel will best represent your views. That can be a Democrat or that other party you asked us not to mention. Do the research yourself. Don't make a decision based on what you hear on talk radio or even read on this board.

Now that the axes have done their work, when everything which was sown has sprouted anew, we can see that the young and presumptuous people who thought they would make out country just and happy through terror, bloody rebellion and civil war were themselves misled. No thanks, fathers of education! Now we know that infamous methods breed infamous results. Let our hands be clean! So in our timidity, let each of us make a choice: Whether consciously, to remain a servant of falsehood--of course, it is not out of inclination, but to feed one's family, that one raises his children in the spirit of lies--or to shrug off the lies and become an honest man worthy of respect both by one's children and contemporaries.
And from that day onward he: * Will not henceforth write, sign, or print in any way a single phrase which in his opinion distorts the truth.
* Will utter such a phrase neither in private conversation not in the presence of many people, neither on his own behalf not at the prompting of someone else, either in the role of agitator, teacher, educator, not in a theatrical role.
* Will not depict, foster or broadcast a single idea which he can only see is false or a distortion of the truth whether it be in painting, sculpture, photography, technical science, or music.
* Will not cite out of context, either orally or written, a single quotation so as to please someone, to feather his own nest, to achieve success in his work, if he does not share completely the idea which is quoted, or if it does not accurately reflect the matter at issue.
* Will not allow himself to be compelled to attend demonstrations or meetings if they are contrary to his desire or will, will neither take into hand not raise into the air a poster or slogan which he does not completely accept.
* Will not raise his hand to vote for a proposal with which he does not sincerely sympathize, will vote neither openly nor secretly for a person whom he considers unworthy or of doubtful abilities.
* Will not allow himself to be dragged to a meeting where there can be expected a forced or distorted discussion of a question. Will immediately talk out of a meeting, session, lecture, performance or film showing if he hears a speaker tell lies, or purvey ideological nonsense or shameless propaganda.
* Will not subscribe to or buy a newspaper or magazine in which information is distorted and primary facts are concealed. Of course we have not listed all of the possible and necessary deviations from falsehood. But a person who purifies himself will easily distinguish other instances with his purified outlook.

Because the Democrats are more likely to fix the problems that actually need fixing, such as our screwed-up health care system, and the environment, and because their policies will lead to a more just and equitable society and reduce instead of increase the disparity between rich and poor. And because the Democrats are more likely to make us friends, instead of enemies, around the world.

You should do as your conscience dictates. But neither party will change anything. *shrugs* And the party you name, is going to be far more detrimental in office, at this time, than the current one. They are totally incapable , when dealing with wartime issues. Plain and simple.
