Unfortunately there are too many fans. They keep making it and those people will never be close to as famous as Kelly Clarkson. She is the only true American Idol. They should've stopped then. And since then they won't stop making other ones "so you think you can dance" "dancing with celebrities", etc.......It will never end cause people thrive off that crap.

Because some people never tire of watching other people fail. I really doubt most people watch to see who wins, I think they like to laugh at those they consider less fortunate than them.
Altho, you gotta admit, the people on american idol did have the guts to audition, so how could they be less fortunate, but there you go.

Because people still watch it. More people voted for the last American Idol winner than the President of the US. Things would be different if that many people voted for our government officals!

I have no idea. After we got Kelly Clarkson the competition might as well stop. To me, Kelly is the original and only American Idol.

Because so many people think that it is cool to sit and listen to a bunch of yahoos sing. I only watch the very beginning to make fun of the really bad ones. Simon is rude, Paula is ditzy, and I don't even care who the other guy is....

i don't know why they keep making it. if someone is really an "idol" then why wouldn't he/she have auditioned for one of the first few episodes. can there really be any more potential "idols" out there?? the talent is definitely starting to weaken.

Because people still watch it. If they didn't, the sponsors would drop it like a hot rock. Did you see the lines for tryouts this week on the news?

Just like all shows, if people are watching and they are getting good ratings, the producers will make more.
