I started thinking about this, now the USA has laws that deem child porn illegal and immoral, but that may not be the case with a number of other countries that have internet available and companies that provide internet to them available. Now how would we be able to fight against child porn on the web taking into consideration that we can't institute our laws and morals onto other countries that might allow this. How would we be able to regulate what the internet provides when other countries are part and providers of this Information Technology system. Cracking down on our own citizens that take part in child pronography is one way but still we cannot regulate what is posted on the internet by foreing providers and webmasters, nor can we control wether or not they ingage in child pronography or completally block this content from all search engines, so how would we fight it?

When you can't attack the producer - you go after the buyer...
Our government already restricts what is available to us on the internet... do you think we get the same Google results as China?
We don't...
I was just listening to a radio show about how bad the internet censorship is in Tibet... they think they have access to the internet but they only see the sites that the Chinese government wants them to see... (which is mostly lies and manipulations).
People in the US have to be very careful about this... if we vote against our right to freedom of speech and viewing information in order to protect children from predators, we may be throwing the baby out with the bathwater! (pun intended)
Good Question though... thanks for posting!

Why do you want to "regulate what the Internet provides...?" If someone is doing something illegal, then they should be punished. If they are out of the jurisdiction of the U.S. then the local authorities need to do something. If that won't work we can use international pressure. But back to "regulate what the Internet provides..." , since when are we limiting what information can be put on the web (unless it violates the law). My guess is you would probably want to shut down the drudgereport, followed by foxnews.com and make the Air America the website every ones required home page.

Contact your congressional representative. Have them support economic sanctions against the countries that allow this evil to continue.
Rat out any dirtbag that helps proliferate this media. A huge public spectacle is a good start to setting the example of what should happen to these low-lives.
Find out what countries are allowing it and stop buying anything from them.
I also think that hackers should make the websites pay dearly for defiling the internet with this.
I, personally, would serve a sentence for what I would do to someone if I knew they were part of this. Really.

The Internet is a borderless phenomenon, the likes of which we all have yet to realize the full potential, in both positive and negative ways. Policing the net in a free society is taboo, and the ultra-liberal swines of America would howl free-speech violations. So, I agree. What can you do, other than take it upon yourself as a parent (if you are one) to block that material from computers that you DO have control over, and instilling early in a child's mind what is right and what is wrong? I believe it comes down to shitty parenting. Thanks for letting me rant, and consequently beginning to break off into a tangent, there. Sorry.

By arresting and prosecuting anyone with hard core child photos on their hard drive. It is working in UK with some very high profile cases resulting in imprisonment. It is the curse of our generation and until and unless the harshest sentencing is imposed, it will not only continue, but worsen.............

so do you support the rights of other countries, if they deem it acceptable and ok to use children for pornography???
Or do you think that we SHOULD impose our views on banning this type of material and sourcing its creators for the purposes of prosicution and more?
Granted it may be difficult to Police the Web and some countries may choose to ignore/overlook this.... but it doesnt meanthat we should sit back and let them carry on... does it???!!!
