I'm wondering whether it's worth me to ship it back home (SF to Chicago) and wanted to see how much it weighs (have no scales) so I can calculate the postage online - thanks!

It would likely be between 20 and 25 pounds.

Okay, just checked my Squire Strat in a cheap hard case and it is 19.5 pounds.

From what I can remember, a Fender Strat weighs about 8 pounds. Hard shell guitar case, 5 to 6 pounds, so you might be looking at around 15 pounds. Check out how much UPS would charge - it might be cheaper that way.

Probably between 12-16 lbs depending on the case

take this from someone with experience
the strat itself weighs about 5-10 lbs. and the hardshell is about
1-3 lbs. please refer to the table below

least amound of weight (1+5 lbs)= 6 lbs.minimum
most amount of weight (3+10 lbs)= 13 lbs maximum

So the total should weigh in at about 6-13 lbs.

A bunch...the Strat is one heavy guitar...plus, do you really want to ship it? If you love it..don't ship it!
