yeah...I agree with what most people have already mentioned. This is the only UN resolution that Israel is glad to follow. They never respected any of the other UN resolutions, but they sure are happy about this one so that they can get themselves out of the fix they got themselves into, and because they want other countries to help them get rid of Hezbollah.

The UN is made up representatives from countries from all over the world. Each country acts/votes with their own interest in mind. Therefore it is almost impossible to find common ground on any real resolution that holds the member states to not only agree in principal on what is said but to hold each country to actively enforce any resolution through sanctions and or by force if necessary in order to enforce the UN resolutions. So by design the UN is hopelessly fragmented and more often then not its resolutions sound good but have no realistic means of enforcement.
In this case the UN simply wanted to stop the bloodshed and try to save the fragile Lebanese democracy from collapsing under the weight of the Hezbollah Israel conflict.
The UN's aim seems reasonable but after its resolution was written and re-written to get all the member states there to agree, the UN once again failed to come up with a resolution that seems capable of succeeding in saving Lebanon from further conflict.
It called for disarming Hezbollah which we can already see in the last two days most likely won’t happen. It called for an arms embargo of shipments of weapons to militias (Hezbollah) in Lebanon but we can see that Syria and Iran will just ignore the UN on this issue and the boarder with Syria is wide open with no force prepared to stop the smuggling of such weapons. It called for the Lebanese Army and 15,000 UN soldiers to create a buffer on the boarder with Israel to prevent further fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in the future. But the UN does not even have any country i.e. France, Turkey or any one else that has signed on to sending troops yet and even if they started sending troops today it could take months. Currently Lebanon has said they will not disarm Hezbollah by themselves and Israel has said they will not leave until the non-existent UN force arrives and Hezbollah is either disarmed or removed from the boarder.
Therefore nothing the UN resolution called for that it said was necessary for any long term peace to succeed has occurred on the ground and there is nothing the UN is capable of doing to create facts on the ground that are consistent with the resolutions stated goals. This simply plants the seeds for a future conflict with Labonans future as a stable democracy still in dought.
This should be seen as another lesson on the inability of the UN to resolve any issues that require stern resolve and enforcement of its resolutions no matter how good or bad or biased the resolutions may be. The UN is a place for diplomacy not action and has too often in recent histoy over reached in its attempts to solve the worlds conflicts with nice sounding resolutions that don't follow through with the dirty work necessary to create real chances for long term peace.

Israel was killing hundreds of innocents with little return. Out of 700+ people Israel killed, less than 100 were related to Hezbollah, by current estimates.
Noone in their right minds would support killings on this level. Not to mention the fact that, if given their way, Israel would attempt to take control of the entire Middle East, and the fact that this incursion into Lebanon was illegal.
There is a difference between justice, and murder; Israel crossed the line.

Actually, I believe the goal is to get all of the Lebanese back in the border and then end the ceasefire after the Israel troops have surrounded the area, then a massacre will probably break out and they'll try to kill off the Lebanese that aren't taking cover in their underground shelters.
Lebanon has nothing at all to do with it. This is a battle between Syria and Israel. Or rather, the mideast and the US.
Note that the bombs dropped on the Lebanese were cluster bombs. Didn't the world (Including America) sign an agreement saying to not use cluster bombs because they cause too many civilian casualties. US is selling the bombs to Israel. There's a lot of oil under the Mid-east.
I'm not anti-american, and I'm not a terrorist.
I'm a concerned American living in the south and noting that most of the media news is a show to advert the american people from the true happenings.
Anyone read bbcnews?
Or search up Lebanon war on Wikipedia?

The UN and the Hezbollah are partners in crime. May be hard to believe but ...
UNIFIL has been helping Hezbollah for years. UN workers are on the Hezbollah payroll; they give the Hezbollah Israeli military positions; they've helped Hezbollah abduct Israelis, ect.

yeah, the UN has also said that Israel should respect international law over a 100 times but they don't listen to those either. In this case, Israel is just glad to have an excuse for the pullback. They were getting into trouble because they wrongly thought that they had a simple task to carry out. Israel's policymakers like the ones in the US are suffering from a mix of arrogance, ignorance and incompetence.

I’m afraid Israel isn't strolling throughout usa. usa doesn’t have a controversy with what Israel does. That plenty is glaring or they does no longer be the international’s closest allies. Israel is usa’s henchman interior the middle east. They do the bidding of usa, ie, oppress and administration the area and now and back, as all outlaws do, they lose it and beat up a random individual as a results of fact they’re risky. usa likes this too. you notice whilst human beings understand you’ll do issues like that, they’re much less probable to clutter with you. usa controls Israel. Israel follows orders with dogs-like obedience. There’s some human beings although that don’t desire to believe usa could sponsor this so as that they desire to think of it’s Israel controlling usa.

The United Nation's secret motto is "Peace Through Terroism." Why else would they have Libya on the humanitarian issues committee? You already answered your own question with "The UN already said..." The problem with the UN is they know what is going on in the world; they declare it openly in pretty speeches; but, when it comes down to taking action, all they do is talk, talk, talk. Then when a country does take action, the UN will be at the forfront of vilifying that same country.

Hello! are you guys stupid, no offense. the United nations was created to stop war not further the violence, if they let hezbollah "finish the job" history would just repeat it self as in WW1 when the league of nations did nothing, it started out as a small conflict but soon alliances started to grow and stuff.
