Rivers, without a doubt. Simple mediocrity would be a huge step forward for Smith this year. Whether or not Houston can improve their O-line for Carr this year, most QBs who spend their first four years in the league starting for a very bad team typically develop a number of habits that mitigate against future success. It is not uncommon for QBs to have a good first year as starter if they have had plenty of prior time learning from the sidelines, like Rivers. And a strong running game, like San Diego's, often seems to be the difference between success or failure for these guys.

it incredibly is maximum of things which you could take as much as tell if a particular college QB would be waiting to make it interior the NFL which incorporate: Did the QB performed in a expert-gadget in college and if so how valuable his college team offense grow to be. whilst on the sphere, people who QB make good judgements with the soccer. Can he circulate interior the pocket to purchase time for his receivers to get open. those he have the psychological makeup to breakdown a protection and comprehend what to do with the soccer in different protective coverages. Does he have the actual skill to a make all the throws those he have management skills Will the NFL team that the QB is going to will enable me advance at the back of a veteran or will they only throw him to the wolves in his first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. those the NFL team that this QB is going to have a competent Offensive Line those are in basic terms some factors that a school QB ought to ought to make it interior the experts. David Carr has the actual skill, yet he does not have the psychological section down and grow to be thrown to the wolves his first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and have been given beat up at the back of a terrible Offensive line. Joey Harrington relatively does not have the actual skill to make all the throws and he make undesirable judgements with the soccer. The jury continues to be out for Alex Smith. He does not have a huge time arm, yet he could make all the throws, clever, he's cellular and he has an honest head coach. i think of maximum of his struggles are by way of him being harm and having no offensive weapons to throw the ball to and a youthful protection.

david carr DEFINITELY! texans have talented players surrounding carr such as andre johnson and dominick davis. carr has the experience that both phillip rivers and alex smith are missing. Alex Smith is a close second because he has improved plenty over the preseason and the coaching has added more play action passes, thus making the rushers have to run further to reach him. Nevertheless, he does not have any offense surrounding him. Gore? Barlow? Johnson? His best receiver's name is ARNAZ FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!

Rivers will be playing on the best team, so I'd go with him. I think Carr lost Dominick Davis for a good part (all?) of the season. Alex Smith did nothing last year.

I would go with Rivers. He has the best TE in Football, one of the best RB's in the game and a few decent WR's. True, he has never started a game in the NFL, but he has had a couple of years to learn and from what I hear he looks great. Even Gates thinks he will be better than Brees this year! Roll the dice on Rivers for a back-up.

Definetly Rivers. He has the best offence around him. San Diego is way better than Houston and San Fran. Plus Rivers will have a running game to help him out.

Rivers of course. He's impressed many in training camp and preseason so far and with the talent around him like LT & Gates, could turn out to be a productive QB2...

Rivers
His line is stronger, he's had 2+ years to watch and learn.
And the 2 biggest reasons, he has Gates and Tomlinson.
The others don't have nearly the talent to surround him.
