Ok...I used to live in Carbondale (what a small world aye?) and I actually lived in an apartment right across the street from SIU. I REALLY don't suggest commuting every day, that's insane. That's like a 6 hour drive! Why don't you just go to U of I in like Champaign or even stay in Chicago? But if you ARE going to travel, I suggest a straight shot on I-57. It will take you right there.
