Just before you give birth, you get a sudden urge to clean EVERYTHING and to have everything in order. When I was 33 weeks pregnant with my daughter, I suddenly wanted to clean and wax the floor in the nursery, clean the blinds, organize all the closets. I joked that I felt like I was nesting, but that I wasn't due for another 7 weeks. Well, two days later, I went into preterm labor, so maybe the nesting instinct was a sign of that!

Nesting means when you go around the house making sure that everything is clean and in its proper place. Some people believe that nesting happens around the time you are going to give birth.
I'm not sure if I believe that but thats what people say.

Nesting is when you have an uncontrollable urge to clean everything in order to get ready for your baby. I am almost 36 wks pregnant and I nested 2 wks ago. I cleaned the entire house from top to bottom. I reorganized our already organized closets, etc. You'll know when you're nesting. Have fun with it.

the Nesting period of a pregnancy as I know it is where a mother to be goes a little crazy about making her house clean and recleaning and making everything perfect for when her baby comes. it's irrational, but it happens.
A good example of this is in the movie "Fools Rush In" where Salma Hayak is running around the house trying to clean, and cleans again and again, just before his parents show up.

That's when the pregnant woman begins to feel like the home is not in order for the baby to arrive. You may feel the need to get the nursery in order, or make sure the house is clean enough. Some times you might feel like you haven't prepared enough...like getting enough diapers or buying enough clothes. "nesting" varies from women to women. But it basically means preparing.

"nesting" is the unexplainable urge you get, shortly before the baby is born, to clean & organize your home space before you bring a baby into it. Sometimes it takes weird forms and you do things like polish silver (does a baby care?). I, who have never ironed in my life, decided I needed to iron and STARCH every shirt in my husband's closet. I guess it's just one of those things....but if you're having the urge to clean, my guess is that baby's coming before too long! :-D
