I had to fdisk my c: drive. I've reinstalled XP and thought I had saved all my pictures so a CD. Only problem is when I tried to restore them, the CD was empty. Does XP have a utility to search for *.jpeg, *.jpg and *.gif files that were deleted due to the fdisk and restore them? If not, does anyone know of a TRULY free product I can use? The "free" ones i've found only scan for free, but don't restore them unless you buy the product. HELP!!!!!!!

PC Inspector File Recovery is a good one that i've used personally, and itr is completely spware free and free of cost. the only prob is that you have already problaly over written most of your old files if not then you could use this but dont use it on your current hdd cause you'll overwrite more, instead boot from another hdd and restore your orig hdd as a slave drive, as to prevent overwriting more files

I've never found a free one.

Probably have to find the cheapest one and figure if it's worth it to recover your stuff.

WARNING: Installing loads of new software on the same disk will make it more difficult to finally recover your lost stuff.

I like File scavenger. Take a look at the program at download.com:

I'm not recommending this, but you might want to search http://www.torrentz.com
for file scavenger
(for evaluation & testing purposes only)
