Sure they can. If I can do it, certainly a therapist can use theraputic techniques on themselves.
I have been in therapy for many years and apply what I learned in therapy to myself all the time when an issue comes up.
For example, I find role playing very helpful.
I can role-play at home if I need too. I can ask myself the questions I know my therapist would ask me about a situation, etc.
