Can you prove me wrong?

Question

I believe that somewhere in the universe there exists a group of 9 Badgers with the following attributes:

1) They are fluent in every known language, and languages not known to you
2) They each own a fleet of sports-cars
3) They eat 500 bald otters every hour
4) One of them knows I know

Can you prove that this is not true?

I can prove without a doubt that you are completely wrong.
I can prove you wrong because you can't prove that I can't prove you wrong. Therefore, by your own logic I can prove you wrong.


But on the other hand, assuming that the universe is infinite, then there would be a 100% chance of everything happening, which would mean that the existence of your 9 badgers would be proved correct.

I can prove you wrong and right. 10 points here I come

Seriously though, there is one real way do prove you wrong. put you in a lie detector test and see if you truly believe in those badgers. Seeing as you don't then attribute 4 must be false and I just proved you wrong... again.

That may explain the fleet of sports-cars, fluency in other languages, however, I would guess after looking at the Otters' stats that eating 500 bald otters every hour cannot be disproved either. Very good.

I can only tell you that mathematically, in an infinite universe any assertion has a probability of it being true somewhere, at some time - but some assertions, such as the one you just made above, have a probability that is vanishingly small, close to zero likelihood as a matter of fact.

I'd say that the probability of what you said being true is so unlikely that, well, if it were true fair enough - but I wouldn't put nay money on being able to prove it as being true in my, or your, or your great grandchildren's, lfetimes, so I'd not waste any further effort on the question.

As a matter of fact the badgers visited my house during the night. I woke up the next day to find that they'd changed all the furniture round whilst I was asleep, then put it back exactly the way it was, before I got up.........x

Such statements must be proved true. You as the declaimer of these statements must demonstrate that they are true. I and the rest of the world are under no onus to prove the statements are true or false. We as a concerned society may insist that you consume mass amounts of Prozac and bathe in Thorazine daily but that is another issue.

If the universe is infinite, then this group exists, and there are other groups with every possible combination of attributes.
If the universe is relative, it is finite and the group is less likely to exist. It does however, because I am the one who knows that you know.

You cannot prove a negative assertion, the burden of proof is always on the person making the positive claim. If I said that the third planet in the Alpha Proxima star system was covered with a three foot layer of French brie and told you to prove it wasn't, you wouldn't be able to even though the assertion is ridiculous.
