I have a small niger trigger and a 2 month old banded cat shark. The trigger is about 3inch and has been picking at the fins of my shark. What should I due to stop this? Is the shark in pain?

Triggers are like that. Triggers and puffers really shouldn't be kept with sharks for this reason, because they are curious and like to pick and bite at things. Exeptions are Crosshatch, Bluethroat, and Sargassum triggers, because they feed from the water coloumn. What I think you should do is trade in the trigger for credit, otherwise the shark will be continously stressed, and eventually die. Good Luck!

You shouldn't have them in the same tank, the trigger is too aggressive for the shark. Granted nigers are less aggressive than clown or undulate triggers, they can still pick on other fish. I am sure the shark is not comfortable being harrassed.

before bringing home any new fish, always check online to make sure they are compatible with your existing fish. Also when buying them talk to someone at the fish store who is knowledgable about fish compatability.

Hell yea he is in pain, take the trigger fish out in a net, let him flop around for about 2 to 3 min. then put him back in the water this works, I have done it, it calms the bully fish down.

Put a net or mesh halfway between them in the tank or completely separate them all together.
