Caught two seconds of a segment of Oprah's show where they were discussing an author's book and how it changed the way a motorcycling dad greeted his kids each day.

Anybody know the name of the book and or author they were referring to?

I found the answer:

Toni Morrison

"When my children used to walk in the room when they were little, I looked at them to see if they had buckled their trousers or if their hair was combed or if their socks were up. And so you think your affection and your deep love is on display, 'cause you're caring for them. It's not. When they see you, they see the critical face.

What's wrong now? But then if you let your—as I tried from then on, to let your face speak what's in your heart—because when they walked in the room, I was glad to see them. It's just as small as that, you see?" — Toni Morrison, one of Oprah's all-time favorite authors.

I saw the show but don't recall any book.
What he does differently now is instead of bit**ing about the kids cleaning their room and such is to put on a smile and greet them. Show love. He wants them to see it on his face when he picks them up from school.
