Driving in Australia
Bona fide tourists with a valid UK driver's licence for the same class of vehicle can drive in Australia. You should carry your licence with you at all times when driving. In some states you can drive indefinitely while on tourist/visitor visa status, others have a time limit so you should check with the local road transport authority.
An International Driver's Permit is not a legal requirement for driving in Australia but if you want to hire a rental car some rental companies may ask for an International Driver's Permit.
If you have been granted Permanent Residency for Australia normally you would be able to drive for three months only on your overseas licence. Regulations vary from state to state, you should contact the local road transport authority on arrival for details on obtaining a local licence.

A British driving force's license is totally valid in the two the U. S. and Canada. the only objective in the back of a international driving force's License is to translate the counsel on the driving force's license into the language of the country you're traveling. Many regulation enforcement officers in the two the U. S. and Canada can examine the English revealed on a British driving force's license with out lots subject. a similar can't be stated for the German driving force's license.

I've driven in that state on both Canadian and American drivers licenses. I have also driven with someone who has a British license when they rented a car so can tell you absolutely yes.

why not ask the Australian embassy. My suggestion is to get an International License endorsement. I had one twenty years ago, and the Embassy provided the location to take the test.
