The United States is adament about destroying the nuclear weapons in other countries, but we are still allowed to have them here...does anyone find a discrepancy in this?? Is this because we assume that we are more responsible with nukes, etc? Is it because of a superiority complex? What is your opinion?

For those who were rude to me, shame on you. I was simply asking a question about other people's opinions. Intolerant people are a disgrace.

The U.S. is the only country ever to use a nuclear weapon in combat, and we have to live with that decision even to this day. So we (should) have the appropriate amount of hesitation to ever use them again or to allow them to be distributed to the rest of the world. The U.S. has this responsibility. Whether or not the U.S. is actually responsible enough to do this varies from administration to administration. Our current administration doesn't have much credibility with the rest of the world.

We have 22,000 of them in varying degrees. Some of the Iraq tanks and weapons we destroyed using depleted uranium shells. They are extremely hard however are still radioactive. Some scientists went to some Iraq battlefields and showed the radiation levels still left on the ground and machinery. They are dangerously high and will take decades to dissapate.
The lesson is that nations are about power and control not fairness. Any nation trying to be fair and equal with others is a conquered nation eventually. No nation plays fair or nice with the rest. Given the chance they will all try to dominate the world. The major difference in the US is we want to expand commerce rather than exterminating mass people like Hitler did. It is useless to apply morality and justice to any nation. They can never live up to it.

via fact we are a rational u . s ., and we invented them. Iran is a religously run u . s ., as a result irrational, basically as any u . s . run completely by utilising faith would be. If the USA have been completely Christian, it may well be irrational. could it relatively is completely Atheist, it may well be irrational, like North Korea. We even have been the 1st to apply them, and build them. We then tried out-arm the Russians. Now we decide for those weapons to discourage the different international locations with nuclear weapons. we don't believe specific international locations, so we don't enable them to have nukes. it relatively is a splash greater complicated, yet I doubt you opt for for the completed tale. Edit: To the moron that pronounced we've all started greater wars than any u . s . in historic previous, we've all started precisely 6 wars in our 260 years as a rustic. great Britain adn all those imperialist international locations in Europe all started lots greater. Russia all started greater, the Ottoman Empire all started greater, and France and Britain all started greater basically with one yet another. And to the different moron, we don't decide for an evil empire. the USA has helped greater international locations benefit freedom than maximum international locations interior the worldwide. we have no imperialsit inclinations, and have not conquored all of us itn a hundred years. Russia and China can not say a similar. And sure, I did spelled conquered incorrect.

The answer is that we feel all to paternalistic in our dealings with the world. This is a father knows best mentality . It's also two faced we allowed if not just gave Israel nukes to me Israel is just another religious froot loop country that believes in anti-science ie: creationism-Noah's ark and all the rest of that bunk . Why is it good for Israel to have such weapons and not say Italy I can't say other than a probable religious bias of the USA.

the U.S. has over 15,000 nuclear weapons, the soviet union has 16,000 but they collapsed and are out of the picture. China has 80-2000 nuclear weapons, the united kingdom has around 200, france has 350, israel and north korea may or may not have nuclear weapons, india and pakistan also have nuclear weapons. so technically the U.S. has a ridiculously large amount of nuclear weapons.

When is our country going to wake back up and develop some pride!!!

If we have all the nukes, and no one else does, we will be safer than anyone else on the planet from foreign invasion. There is no discrepancy.
That is like saying "we have guns...they have swords.....instead of them buying guns, let us just go get swords".
In war, you want the best weapons. It was the changing technology that ultimately won the war for the North.....smokeless gunpowder, pointed bullets, auto-loaders, weapon clips, shorter barrels and greater accuracy....technology is survival.

we are more responsible....we won't sell them to any government that isn't stable; look at what happened to the Soviet Union's nukes (1/2 are "missing" since the end of the Soviet Union...probably sold on the black market)
