if open field, with a swimming motion your arm over his arm exerting pressure on his arm downward if possible with your other hand hold his hand,fingers against you from escaping exert pressure on him without breaking his arm. if all else fails throw a cross body block on the ball carrier. the swimming motion is a spiral movement similar to a tai chi spiral in which your arm spirals over the ball carriers extended stiff arm while the exerted preasure downward forces him to ground.
