Ok. This is a question that I could not find any backing/info on the internet about.

I want to know if there is a direct connection between people with low IQ's and dumb comedy movies like Dumb & Dumber, Napolean Dynamite, Austin Powers etc...

I beleive that dumb comedic movies like those mentioned and others of that sort, have a following of people that probably score low on an IQ test.

i concur with that hypothesis. there are parts of those movies that are funny, I'm not going to lie. there are some people that watch those movies over and over and think they are hilarious from start to finish, and they aren't the most intelligent people I've ever come across.

Don't be so serious.
Enjoying entertainment in the form of "dumb movies" has nothing to do with a low score on an IQ test. It takes a brilliant mind to write and market a "dumb" but very successful movie.
You're coming across as offended, not everyone has to love Shakespeare to prove or show off their smarts!

i think the corelation may be the other way around.. those movies exist because hollywood knows that the masses will flock to them. though i think they can be enjoyed or hated by anyone. Not everyone who enjoys some or allof those films has a low IQ, and not every one with a low IQ likes them. But i do think the growing trend of uninteligent tv and movies does say something about the state of our country... pretty sad.

It sure seems like it, doesn't it? People have told me to be sure and watch some of those movies or I have run across them on TV, and it is like a second grader writing a hit novel.
I really really found them disgusting. Insulting to anybody's intelligence.
There wasn't humor, there was stupidity. Sort of a brain - deficient mental slapstick.
There is quite a difference between genuine humor that has a substance to it, and just made up, jumbled up nonsense.
Maybe it is just the viewer's way of relaxing, or maybe what you suggest is true. Hope not, cause my kids like those movies.

A movie is suppose to be entertaining and not to think about.
Its also a matter of taste, and simple movies can really be amusing.
I think its more a matter of what kind of people are honest enough to admit they like certain kind of movies.
Talking nonsense and having a weird interpretation about movies that are suppose to be intelligent surprising the author, is that smart?
