Mine started about 16 weeks with my third and 20 weeks with my fourth.
It just feels like your tummy muscles are tightening up. Try to see if they are coming regularly, though. If they are regular and get painful you should see your doc.
Not everybody has them, though.

Congrats! and I hope everything goes well.

The usually begin around 6 weeks My braxton hicks were very crampy. short and never knew when they were going to hit. I started feeling them at about 30 weeks.

What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
Braxton Hicks are sporadic uterine contractions that actually start at about 6 weeks, although you won't be able to feel them that early. You probably won't start to notice them until sometime after midpregnancy, if you notice them at all (some women don't). They get their name from John Braxton Hicks, an English doctor who first described them in 1872.

In my experience I didn't even realize I had contractions at first. I'm not sure when I had Braxton-Hicks but I would guess around 8 months or nearing birth. Contractions felt like I was having cramps similar to dysmenorrhea or abdominal pains.

I don't remember exactly when mine started but they feel like a slight muscle strain in the tummy area. I knew when my contractions started though because my water actually broke. I know that doesn't always happen. By tha time my contractions started I was already in the hospital so I didn't have to deal with them too long without help...but, they can get pretty intense. They can feel like your stomach muscles are being pinched and pulled and some even feel like they are being torn. I hope that doesn't scare you because honestly, there are so many emotions running through you that the physical pain pales in comparison. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and you child birth!

Not all people have Braxton-Hicks contractions! Don't wish them on yourself. I am 34 weeks and trust me when I say that you will know it! Braxton-Hicks is just false signs of labor!

If I recall correctly, Braxton-Hicks are false labor pains. A true labor pain (contraction) feels like your abdomen or sides have a deep muscle ache. It is hard to describe, but believe me, you will know it when you have them!

They are at different times for everyone. I never had em w/my first. My 2nd preg. they started about 34 wks. Just felt like very mild menstrual cramps, and I could feel my belly tightening a little. By tightening, I mean, it was like the sensation that the baby was stretching or pushing outward on my belly. They weren't bothersome to me, but beware, if they start to turn into more moderate cramping or pain do call your dr. I had bh's from 34wks on with my last baby, and at 36 they turned into the real thing. (just got stronger, but since they werent severe, I thought they were still fake) So I didn't call, just went to bed and ignored it. I had my baby the next day!!!
