Don't be silly - Hares grow on your head!

Rabbits live in burrows under the ground and are very social creatures. Hares live in shallow 'scrapes' above the ground and rely on their colouring and speed to protect them from predators. They have coarse hair on their backs to help protect them from the weather.

In spite of looking similar, they are different species and can't breed together. There is a bred of domestic rabbit called a Belgian Hare, but these are not really hares - just rabbits that have been bred to look like them.

As a general rule hares are much bigger than rabbits with longer ears and legs.
Hares live above ground and are solitary except in the breeding season.
Rabbits make burrows underground and live in large family groups.

They are different subspecies, like coyotes/wolves/dingos, closely related but different. The hare is larger and has longer legs and ears. Hares are also more solitary, live in family units instead of large communal warrens.
