My first job was at 15 (you had to get a special work permit) I worked at Six Flags over Georgia. Believe it or not it was hard work (especially dealing with some of the general public) but we actually had a great time working there. When we weren't working we could go in the park and ride the rides or just play around. I worked there for 3 summers and really enjoyed it. I still have a great time talking about some of the stuff that happened there. (Like the lady that lost her false teeth on the mine train (roller coaster) and we all had to go look for them. We actually got an annual at the end of the year like you do at school.

My first job was in a hospital.
I was 16. I was called the "Admitting Hostess", and I dressed up really cute (the 60's, with mini skirts and boots) and I would go around every day to the new patients, and show them how to use the telephone, adjust the bed, call for the nurse, how to work the TV, etc., Then an hour before I left I would take around the portable candy/gift cart, and sell candy.
Had to watch their charts though, because sometimes the patient would lie to me and say they could have candy, but their diet restricted it.
It was fun. I didn't deal with the dirty jobs, I just had to look cute and perky and enjoy the patients. I was there to boost morale. It was especially fun when I would enter a men's ward.
But, I cheered people up, and that was so fulfilling.

My first job was when I was 14 for the Christmas season as a Santarina. Good fun as I got to dress up and put on my 1st high heeled booths and make up! Oh yeah, walking around with Santa was great too as the kids loved the Santarinas almost as much as Santa! Ah, the innoncense of children! The thing to remember is that you will be paid and as such you should have a positive attitude and enjoy yourself even if you don't. Perception is everything as positive thinking will project and have a great impact on how you well you will do in the job. Good Luck.
Peace.

My first job was a waitress in a small, upscale and high class resturaunt. I liked the really good tips I got ($200 a night). I didn't like my supervisor (b*tch). My favorite part about working there was my boyfriend at the time worked in the kitchen and we would be the only ones left to clean up the place at the end of the night because we where the youngest of all the 10 people that worked there. And the place never got cleaned (if you know what I mean). lol.

Lifeguard for the YMCA, stayed there for 3 years... it was really boring.
Some advice though, it looks better on your resume if you stay at one place rather than getting a new job every year. Although since its part time its really not that big of a deal.
Some advice though, as soon as your old enough (most pizza places want you 18) get a job delivering pizza, basically you drive around and get 12-15 dollars an hour with tips. Its a pretty sweet deal.

The truth is the first time, I had a job where you would punch the clock and get a real W-2 was as a collator for a hymnal company. I walked around a big table with stacks and stacks of pages and then bound them in a ring binder. Prior to that, I had lots of babysitting jobs, and a newspaper route. I sold all-occassion cards for a dollar a box door to door. I collected bottles and turned them in for change in elementary school. I even went door to door saying "eggs for the poor?" And one house would give me an egg and I would go to the next house and say "buy an egg from the poor", and sell it for a quarter. My neighbors must have thought I was a doozy of a kid.

My first job (age 15) was working as a clerk in an accounting office. I learned a lot of great skills, made more per hour than my friends, and had better job offers later in high school and college.
I did enjoy it. I got to do things that still amaze me. I had to build a checking account register from receipts, statements and other items for an IRS audit. It was cool to be doing something so big.

I got my first job at 17; it was at Wal-Mart. I worked in the back as an unloader, I did kind of like the job, it was hard lifting heavy boxes and stuff but my coworkers were nice so it made it easier. I quit because my boss was a bigot and a womanizer and I could not stand the site of him.
A tip, do something you have interest in. However, even if you don’t really like the job, if you like the people you work with it makes it more enjoyable.

My first job, other than babysitting, was at the soda fountain at McNamara's Drug Store. Served sandwiches, pop, ice cream sundaes, shakes, malts etc. I made 50 cents per hour, yes that is correct, it was 1966 and I was 15 years old, not sure what minimum was, but if you weren't 18, they didn't have to pay minimum. Got that job so I could buy contact lenses cause I didn't want to drive a car wearing glasses....how VAIN...LOL

I was a cashier at F & M drugstore (do they still have those?) at the age of 16. Back then, minimum wage was $3.45.
Most of the time it was boring (not many people to check out) but at this time of year, with all the people doing back to school shopping, it was great. I was the youngest cashier and also had the best record for speed and accuracy in the store.
