when Timothy McVeigh (of the Michigan Militia) bombed the Kansas federal building? WHy does the Michigan Militia still exist, if it is a terrorist organization? Does the second amendment allow for the formation of terrorist cells inside our own country?

I think it does.

They haven't stopped the KKK, Neo Nazis, or any other Federal Government hating militia in the US.

I think they are protected through freedom of speech and right to bear arm. But if one of them gets out of had the Gov'ment steps in.

Remember WACO and the racist guy in the mountains of ...(was it West Virginia) whose wife and kids were killed with him by the Feds.

And I don't think the Militia was actually charged with involvement in the bombing.

STOP THE BLOODSHED!!!!! and blood lust.

Firstly Tim McVeigh blew up a building in OKLAHOMA CITY not Kansas. It was the Murrah Federal Building. Tim McVeigh was kicked out of The Michigan Militia prior to his involvement in The destruction of said building. And The Michigan Militia was completely cleared of involvement in the case. Please try and get your facts right before stating a question. The second amendment must be protected just like all of the other amendments. Do you really want the freedom of assembly restricted, freedom of press, freedom from slavery, what other amendments would you get rid of?, The 14th 15th and16th?

The constitution of the United States is a very liberal document. that should give the power to the people. It was first understood that the government would only protect us from outside powers, the People would protect themselves from threats inside the country including an out of control Government if it came to that.

Why didn't they bomb Michigan? Let's assume that the Michigan Militia was involved in the bombing of the federal building and let's assume that Michigan endorsed the Michigan Militia. Apparently it was a wise decision for the US not to bomb Michigan, as no further acts of terrorism have been committed by the Michigan Militia. Correct? On the other hand, Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations continue to commit acts of terrorism on an almost daily basis.

Think next time...

Timothy McVeigh did not bomb the Kansas federal building. He bombed the Oklahoma City federal Building. In answer to your question, it's probably because although he may have been a member of the militia, he was not acting on their orders. I don't believe that this violent act was encouraged or endorsed by them.

The formation of private militias in the US is, at best, on the fringe of the law. While the second amendment allows for gun ownership, it specifies 'a well-regulated militia'.

As for the Michigan Militia, little or no evidence is available to tie them to OKC. And so long as they don't break any laws, or conspire to do so, they must be considered as nothing more than a gun club under the law.

By what logic do you arrive at the conclusion bombing MI is the appropriate way to serve justice on McVeigh?

And if the MI militia is classified as a terrorist organization, I'm sure the FBI and CIA have close tabs on them. I just highly doubt that they are our greatest concern right now.

The way logic is in the world today it would have been acceptable if we blew up every bridge, airport and infrastructure in Michigan so that the militia could not escape. We would then not be attacking Michigan, we would simply be acting in self-defence against the militia.

Bomb Michigan

Good idea. With 90% of the factory jobs in Michigan moved off shore it would be a good time to "Tera Farm" Michigan. It would be an excellent choice of a State that could be returned to a Natural forested condition.

Move out the remaining residents. Then level all man made structures. re-plant the native grasses and trees. It would help the economy the ozone and the eye appeal.

Go big Red Go

What and end all this bliss in Michigan. Heavens no. If you bombed the place you could only do $2.98 worth of damage. Empty factorys don't cost much here there are so many. Thank you George Bush and the great economy that you have built for China.

Because it was one man that was stupid, not the entire militia...that and Michigan is our own state. We won't bomb our own land.
I think we should just give Michigan to Canada anyways...damn Wolverines.
