In America....well in the south, there is an old saying..."never bring up religion and politics". And yet when we do...we all get huffy and try so hard to defend our beliefs and also try to "convert" people to believe the way we believe whether it be about politics, our government, or our religion. I With all the questions I have seen and posted myself...and with all the feedback from other yahoo users....I have come to the conclusion that hearing from everyone and getting opinions and attitudes from people who believe differently than myself has really opened my eyes to see the diverse spectrum of people that this world holds. and despite the fact that it is very hard to change a persons mind when it comes to government (especially), it is good and wise to listen to what others say. I can only hope that with every debate or topic of politics we all argue about, that somehow we come away with a piece of information or knowledge to use to better ourselves. Well said. I think part of the issue we have today is that the last election was won (?) by such a small margin and yet the administration has gone on to change some very fundamental things about our government and way of life that at least 49% of the population disagrees with. Instead of taking a middle road that would have respected the DEEP division in what people actually believe we have moved so far to the right that it scares the crap out of those of us on the left. In fact, I used to be one of the most conservative of my liberal friends but in today's political environment, I'm way left. None of my political views have changed. I just wish people would realize that being mean will only get you so far. We all still have to live on the same planet.
