I have always wanted to work in an orphanage, but don't know if there is any around Minnesota. Does anyone know of any? It would not be for employment, but for volunteering.

I don't know what city you live in, but if you're in the Twin Cities area there's a great volunteer opportunity at a non-profit place called CRISIS NURSERY (see link below) If you're not in the cities, check with your local county for any programs they might have.

Due to social services available, orphanages in MN are a thing of the past--most kids are kept in group homes or foster care until they reach 18 or are adopted..

Find an organization that you are interested in. Children would be great at this time of year. You have every right to ask the organization what they do with the items and do they profit from it. What percentage of the profits go to the needy. From their responses you can decide if you think they are worthy enough for what you want to do. Good luck scouting them out, you are on the right track.
