The homes over here are only 4-5 years old so I can't understand why their AC unit is clicking and shutting on and off repeatedly every 30-40 seconds but it sounds horrible like it has a short in it. It keeps clicking and then I hear the air turn on and off. I'm looking out of my window at it and the unit does look a little crooked like maybe a riding lawnmower hit it. Is this a danger to my property? I want to go over there and tell them in case they don't know but I don't want to bother them unless it is a hazard. Will it eventually explode and catch on fire or is the unit just going out?

The unit is "short cycling". It may be the thermostat is too close to each other...(posts where it kicks on and off), so its going to be up to the home owner to find out...

No, its not a danger to your property. It will run thier electric bill up tremendously, by doing all this cycling, and will eventually shorten the life span of the A/C.

And, about that tilt... I am sure that the neighbors "know" about it, as they are probably the ones that hit it in the first place and dont know what to do about it...(those things arent that heavy and you can put it back onto the pad with two men)... If they didnt break anyting, like the tube that carries the freon, then they are ok...

I would still talk to them about the unit, as its not healthy for it to short cycle like that.

I wish you well..

The unit probably isn't in any danger of catching fire or exploding. It will most likely just give out eventually. It would be nice of you to let them know in case they haven't noticed yet. If they get someone out there to look at it soon, they might be able to fix it.

I would let them know. My neighbors are trying to sell there house and I noticed to gas on.. I had my husband go over and turn it off..And I called them to let them know... sometime neighbors are rude. I didn't get a thats or nothing just a why is my basement window out.. Well it has been for a long time but What ever huh. How rude. It could have blown up . So just let them know and leave it as that i guess. But if it was me I would thank you a bunch:)

You have nothing to fear from the unit, You would be a very good person by pointing this issue out to your neighbor, As they may be able to get the unit fixed before it completely screws up.

Your being a good neighbor.Go over and just say you where concerned that maybe theres a problem with the AC that they aren't aware of. Nothing wrong with that. And there really might be a problem that could cause it to cause a fire.

I think they might have it turned down too low and the unit is working overtime to do the work. And now it is probably freezing up.
I would let them know your concern if it does look like someone hit it, maybe their gardener hit it and ran. They should know.
