You should have asked the doctor this when you were there...never leave a doctor's office with a concern on your mind...you are suppose to ask them things that you are not sure about such as this. Call them right now and just ask.

My baby measured smaller than how pregnant I was too. The Dr. would have me get another ultrasound and would adjust the dates by a day or two, but never drastically. The Dr. was worried that my dates were off or that my baby was too small, but the nurses would feel my belly before hooking me to the non stress test machine and tell me the baby was fine, that I was carrying her deeper inside me than some women do, and they were right. The Dr. was really sure she was too small, but when she was born she wasn't all that small. She wasn't a big baby, but not too tiny either. Maybe your cycle was a little bit off the month that you conceived, or maybe you conceived a few days after you had sex, sperm can live inside of you for 5 days. I'm not sure how they could say the exact week and day, with my baby and ultrasounds they would always say, approximately so many weeks, never definate. Is the Dr. concerned? If not then you shouldn't be either. Or you could seek a second opinion.
And get the book, What to Expect When You are expecting, it answers so many questions and concerns about pregnancy.

The first thing you should do is NOT WORRY! I went through the same thing during this pregnancy. When I was supposed to be 9 weeks, I only measured 7. Your doctor should have told you that it is VERY, VERY common for the dates to be off. Sonogram machines really cant pick up the EXACT gestational age until you are much bigger.
If it makes you feel any better, the next month I went back to the doctor my baby was SPOT ON at 13 weeks. If you think about it, at 8 weeks the baby is really tiny and it's hard to measure, so hold off until next month and I bet your baby will be right on target. Good luck and believe me as your pregnancy continues, you'll worry less and less.

Well, it all depends. My doctor said that on his ultrasound that my baby measured too small and he told me that in his professional opinion that I was going to lose the baby...but he scheduled an ultrasound at the hospital to make sure. After 2 agonizing days I went for the appointment and the tech said that everything was fine. ( that was at 7 weeks) I have had 2 ultrasounds and lots of blood work since then and I am now at 16 weeks and everything is fine....But that was my situation, not yours. In all honesty, call your doctor and ask if you can get another ultrasound to check things again and when can you have it. If you worry about it it will only cause more problems in the pregnancy. CALL YOUR DOCTOR and tel him that you can 't rest until you know and what needs to be done to confirm.....
I guess at this point only time will tell.

The "respectable" initiate of the being pregnant is counted from the final era, being the only specific generic date. concept would have been 2 weeks, even sixteen days later, so because it is the genuine age of the foetus. 6 or 8 weeks is amazingly early to assume a sturdy heartbeat sound. If the toddler became into moving, it is high-quality. the dimensions of the sac relies upon on how lots fluid you have; some women persons have much less and infrequently teach; others have extra and appear like twins-day after today whilst they are purely 7 months with one.

If the dates came from an ultrasound scan they are most definatly right as they mesure the baby's head and get their dates from their.
You can't possibly know the day you concived, you know the dates of your periods which is close enough for you but a prfessional can tell the date you concived with the scan.
Ask your doc to explain, not us!

measurements are just to see how you're coming along...it's nothing to be alarmed about! the dr. would have told you if anything was wrong, or if there were a possibility of it. some people measure big or little, but in either it's no cause for alarm! relax, eat well and just take care of yourself! it's hard not to worry, but things will work out fine for you!!!

I didn't read all the answers, so I don't know if somebody's already said this, but maybe the doctor is measuring gestational age and you are going from the date of your last period. That's about two weeks' difference.

Not all develope at the same rate. The charts are for referrence. If the doctor had no concerns don't worry about it. If it does bother you, schedule another appointment to discuss it with the doctor.
