I have a 4 day old boy and he seems really contented with me and also stops crying if I pick him up and speak to him and things, but can he actually recognise me? I am his father by the way.

He has been with you for over 9months and has been able to hear your voice and you have a scent that the baby quickly learns and knows that the smell and voice mean their problems will sonn go away. There is a chance he recongnizes you as this person.

babies recognize voices inside the womb so he knows you as a familiar voice. My best friend just had a baby and we are a couple hundred miles apart but we talk all the time. When she came to visit while pregnant the baby recognized my voice and moved away when I touched her stomach cause I would make fun of the baby LOL so she doesnt care for me much!!

He sure can. He actually recognizes your voice because he could hear it from inside the womb. If he is soothed by your presence or your touch, even if you aren't mommy, you can be sure he knows you're daddy and he loves you. He will actually turn to the sound of your voice in about 2 months.

He can recognize you now. He heard your voice while he was invetro & he knows it now. He knows your smell and the sound of your heart when he is laid on your chest.
Don't worry about it and just enjoy him because before you know it he will be standing in front of you asking for some money & the keys to the car...

If you spoke to him while your wife was pregnant then most likely he knows your voice. Baby's can hear from like 15 weeks or maybe even before that. So he just knows that loving voice Daddy!!!!

young infants have under developed eyes when they are born and they can't really focus on what they are seeing. they see sort of blurry images. If you spoke to the baby while he ws still in your wife then he probably recognizes your voice. Also since babies can't really see they remember people by smell as well. so he probably recognizes your scent.

Of course he can. They say they can hear you from the time they are 5 months along in the womb. He has been hearing you for that long and he recognizes your voice as well as his mothers.

Babies know their parents. The entire time they are growing in the womb he can hear his mom and dad's voice. That is why he is content with you, because he has been hearing your voice almost all his life.

Did you speak to him while he was in the womb? Babies have this thing about them at birth that they can recognize poeple that the mother was very close to while pregnant they are amazing and he probably does recognize you. Congrats on the new little one!!!
