yes you can clean it with carb cleaner and let it air dry then reconnect. Oxygen sensors too can be cleaned but they won't tell folks that.

there is no accurate way of checking them unless you have a scanner connected to the computor and are looking at live data. or look at the wire or mesh screen inside the maf and see if its damaged.
