The unit of capacitance if the farad (F)

1 F = 1 C/V (coulomb/volt)

Note, 1 farad is a very large capacitance, although there are a lot of capacitors with this much juice. Most capacitors, however, usually measure their capacitance in microfarads and picofarads.

Noun 1. capacitance unit - a measure of the capacity of a circuit component to store charge
electromagnetic unit, emu - any of various systems of units for measuring electricity and magnetism
picofarad - a unit of capacitance equal to one trillionth of a farad
millifarad - a unit of capacitance equal to one thousandth of a farad
farad, F - the capacitance of a capacitor that has an equal and opposite charge of 1 coulomb on each plate and a voltage difference of 1 volt between the plates
abfarad - a capacitance unit equal to one billion farads

RE:
what is the unit of capacitance?

farad---where C is a Coulomb, V is a volt, and N is a Newton. However, a Farad is a huge capacitance, so more usual practical units are the microfarad, nanofarad, and picofarad ("puff").

yep, farad.

please vote for the 1st guy. He got it right and I wrong. Thought about coulomb 1st, but it's electric charge, and not capacitance
