when you are in a group, is there a guideline on who should wear which color suit?

most people wear blue or black. for example in a group of 10 people almost all wearing blue or black, if someone want to wear a dark brown or light brown or light green, is it ok? i mean is it usually the Boss who wears the different color to stand out?

Most men wear the dark blues and black because it's an all purpose color. It shows less stain that a light one, and it's a more traditional look for the office.
If you want to wear a different color, then do. There is no rule about suit color unless specified for an event, like a wedding. Black tie optional mean tux or a dark suit, not a light one, but other than that, wear what you like.
