Charleston isn't so much known for one particular site, as it is for the city as a whole. Just wander around the historic district and admire the antebellum homes and lush gardens. One particular area of interest for the houses is at the tip of Charleston, known as the Battery. Also, there is the old slave hall and a couple of nice old churches. A nice aquarium was build a few years ago.

I recommend taking a day to go along either Sullivan's Island or Isle of Palms, the beaches are great there. There is also Patroit's Point in nearby Mount Pleasant with a Submarine and Aircraft carrier. Fun touristy things in Charlleston are the Black Market and Rainbow Market, neat things to see and buy (if you have a sweet tooth, check out Market Street Sweets, best pecan pralenes I have EVER had) Take a horse drawn carriage tour and see Rainbow Row and Fort Sumpter. There are fountains in the city that you can play in too. If you like spooky things like ghosts, the last time I was down there, they were offering "The Ghosts of Charleston" walking tours in the evening. Other touristy thing just outside Charleston are the Angel Oak (oldest oak tree ever found or something like that, it looks cool!) and Boone Hall is a plantation where they filmed some of Gone with the Wind. My favorite restaurant in Charleston is Hyman's, GREAT FOOD. There's a few museums and other great restaurants. I miss Charleston, I haven't gotten to go there since my Grandma died. If you happen to meet an artist named Peggy Howe, say hi for me, she's my Aunt.
