I have taken some time to read the answers to several different questions, and from the looks of it, we as a whole dont get shocked very easily by anything going on in anothers life. Why do you think that is?

I think that people are drawn to this site because they have been hurt in some way. They want to see if they are the only ones hurting, or if other people have been through anything similar.

I think we are not "shocked" by things due to the influences of TV, magazines, others actions, etc. We have become used to the mistreatment of one person by another in our lives.

I like this site because I can feel accepted here. My failed marriage is accepted and I am not a "loser" as some others may think. If anything I have to say helps another person avoid any of the pain I went through, then it makes me feel better. I would like to think that there was a reason for me to hurt so much - maybe it was to help others in the same position.

I am not a person easily shocked, but after seeing some of the questions on Yahoo Questions, I have been.

I think that people post things here that they never would consider discussing in person because here, they can remain anonymous.
