It is caused by gravity. Gravity pulls on all objects equally thus creating a round shape. Also a sphere is the strongest, and most energy efficient form anything can take i.e bubbles, water droplets.
hope that helps

Gravity pulls equally in all directions. It's the smallest and most efficient volume shape to hold the mass.
Actually, the earth is not completely round. It's a little flattened at the poles and bulging at the middle. This is due to the centripetal accelleration effect of the planet's rotation, counteracting a bit of the gravitational force.

all of the planets are round because of gravity.when our solar system was forming, gravity gathered billions of pieces of gas and dust into clumps which grew larger and larger to become the planets. The force of the collision of these pieces caused the newly forming planets to become hot and molten. The force of gravity, pulled this molten material inwards towards the planet's center into the shape of a sphere. Later, when the planets cooled, they stayed spherical. Planets are not perfectly spherical because they also spin. The spinning force acts against gravity and causes many planets to bulge out more around their equators.

It all has to do with gravity. Everything has a gravity field, and this is being pulled on by other objects. Plus planets and stars spin, making the gravity nearly equal (they are actually not round they are like squished balls, with the bulge being in the middle)

Carl Sagan can answer that with ease! Something about center of gravity, clumping materials, and spinning... it would make a sphere, not a square. Try an experiment with a magnet, see what happens.

Rotation, orbits, and gravity.
They are traveling in roughly a circle around the sun. Traveling in a circle as they rotate on thier axis. And gravity pulls and controls all of this.
Roll something in your hand and it will eventually turn into a ball.
