First of all, it's not (just the) "sin city"! There is the Red Light Distruct and the drugs, sure! However it is also a beautiful place, full of canals, nice museums! I love it!

Been there thrice, I find Amsterdam is a city of much convenience! Shops are all around, and basically, you can cover the city on foot! The building architechture is so elegant, and, it's a city of flowers, apart from the more notorious name in Red Light District & marijuana. But I find it more interesting outskirt of Amsterdam, in a small windmill village called Zaanse Schans, and if you happen to be around Amsterdam late spring, you can't miss the annual flower show in Lisse, near Leiden, just a few stations away. Forget the bad image of Amsterdam, if you like flowers, you'd love it there! Romance aside, this is the most beautiful place on Mother Earth!

I absolute HATE Amsterdam... I used to have to go there on business and I would stay in the Haage and only take the train over to Amsterdam for meetings. To me, there is NOTHING charming about 'sin city"

You can have impressive experiences with art. First go for a coffee in one of the famous establishments, and then go to Van Gogh. You will see his paintings in a chronical arrangement: from very decent to completely .... up.

It rained the whole time we were there. We rented those funky bikes though. I don't remember doing any drugs...
