1 main reason why I do not know where to start is because i have some self image issues that deal with acne and the fact that i weigh 50 pounds more than most models but I'm not fat. I also do not know how to start my portfollio or what agenctcey to go to or how I will hanndel school with all of this. I have been thinking about becoming a real girl model for Seventeen magazine, but I do not know how to start that. Another bad thing for me is that i have no experince at all.

You had better prepare yourself to hear some things that might upset you. Modeling is a rough business and agencies aren't always going to be polite. They will tell you right to your face if you are too fat, not pretty, have acne, etc...Just because you are tall and want it with all your heart doesn't automatically mean that you are model material. Secondly, you need not spend lots of money on a portfolio. Any reputable modeling agency will only require you to submit a face shot and a full body shot, they will need to see you in person. If they are interested in you they will foot the bill for photos. Good luck!

I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau in teh US or Trading Standards in the Uk or Similar organisation elsewhere.

NEVER GO ON YOUR OWN ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PARENTS!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN!!!

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

I will need to speak to your parents and make sure that they know what is happening and agree with it before i do any work, sorry but it is a legal issue.

Model, huh?Well, call Tyra Banks become her friend and maybe she'll lend a hand. If you are not fat why are you saying you have 50 more pounds on you than most models? You better start to take care of yourself. They are really picky when it comes to your body. They expect you to have the hips of a bee. For acne you can try acne problems to help. That's not really something you should be worrying about.Do some research online and see what you find. Just don't be tempted and do any porn. OK?And if you do,tell me so I can buy your magazine! Haha...Good luck,Ms..Future America Top Model.

Take acting classes, they usually help you with poise and posture
Work out to burn off the extra pounds and prepare for modelling
I got a letter from a modelling agency, which said they were informed by some anonymous person I knew. You could contact a modelling agency or wait for a letter.
Take modelling classes.
Contact Seventeen.

Get some proactive for your skin. It works miracles.
You need to take some good photos, even if you can't
afford a pro photographer. Take cues from America's
Next Top Model.. that sounds superficial, but it is true.

Are you black (your avatar looks brown). Fashion Fair has
an annual fashion show. They give you the criteria to be
a model on this page: http://www.ebonyfashionfair.com/assembled/models.html
You don't have to be black, I'm just asking.
Don't give up on your dreams. Work hard for great
grades while you pursue your modelling.

Learn how to act. Modeling is acting. Take acting classes, participate in school or community theatre. The experience will make you more comfortable in front of a crowd/camera and help develop of network of future contacts. You will begin to learn the business of "show business". Remember, there are no overnight stars. It takes time, talent, and luck to succeed.

Get a reputable agent or you will be taken advantage of. Talk to your mother. You are "fresh meat" in a big, mean feeding ground and you need adult back-up. Good luck!
