No, but they do have a "special price". Mostly it's the name people are paying for.

I Rolex is also an investments as they tend to retain some of their value. I think it is a personal thing - some people like expensive shoes, some expensive cars etc. I think if you look at Rolex and how their are designed and crafted you will see that they really are a beautiful time piece. I would love to get one but somehow food and shelter seem to take priority right now.

The actual answer is that a Rolex is a precision 17 jewel Swiss made automatic winding wristwatch. If you want the mechanical equivalent, you can buy an International Watch Company wristwatch for several hundred dollars and have exactly the same precision without the cost of gold and the name.

Expensive watches have been reduced to cosmetic accessories. Nothing more than a bling showcase.

Yes it can tell time, but is it still really needed today? Not really. Clocks are everywhere these days. In your car, on your cellphone, on your MP3 player, on your PDA etc...

And in the example of the cell phone, you don't even have to set the clock,..ever! And it's ALWAYS right. So who gives a sh1t that the Rolex watches keep very accurate time, is it really going to matter? Probably not.

Bling, bling...

Rolex Singapore's service should be commended as well. Very professional and the whole experience was really good. Oh and just to add, my Sub was exhibiting no issues on timekeeping, I just thought it would be good to give the gal a treat being such a trusty and faithful companion.

they're Handmade precision swiss watches
And by hand made I mean every part is assembled by hand
The precision of certain parts is nearr to unbelievable I used to work for a supplier of Rolex and we delivered rubber parts that were only a few micrometer thick.
furthermore you'll find that they are made with the finest materials gold christal glass diamond set in the watch!!
that still doesn't make them anymore affordable just understandable!

You are paying for the name 'ROLEX'. its the same as Cartier or Ben Sherman etc. If you bought a watch that was a rolex imitation it would cost alot less
