it has something to do with the moon

Waves are generated far out at sea. There even gentle breezes can create ripples. And ripples grow into swells. And swells can become enormous. It's only when an ocean swell approaches shallow water that the wave starts to break. The bottom of the swell is slowed by contact with the sea bed. The top of the swell, still moving fast starts to roll over. And so the wave breaks.

Tides are created by the gravitational pull of the Moon, not waves.

Waves are created in the sea due to the gravitational force between the earth and the moon.During full moon day and new moon day the waves are seen to be much stronger as there is more grav. force.

Waves are made by the gravitational pull that the moon has on the earth. Without the moon there would be no waves.

THE MOON, the gravatational attraction between the moon and the earth causes waves. the closer the moon is to earth, the bigger the waves, because the attraction is stronger and vice versa. also, when the moon is responsible for the tides

By the gravitational pull of the moon. Wave sizes are also effected by what moon phase we are in. Such full moon and crescent moon. The smaller the moon, the closer it is to the earth and the more gravitational pull it has.

1--because of moon its attraction cause an upward flow as much it acts --so in august when moon comes nearer to earth it causes more high waves
2--because of air flow waves are always produced in the direction of air when air touches water surfaceit gets a powerful binding attraction in between as air moves water moves with and lift it up as high as the attractive forces are applicable
