** you can adopt an animal at the zoo (it doesn't live in your house) in his name
** you could send him to a day spa - men love that stuff as much as we do, they just don't know it until they get there.
** make little gift certificates for him - cook his fav meal, back rub, clean out the garage, walk his dog everyday for a week, read the sports page to him,
** sign you both up for a class in something new and different that would be interesting for the two of you to share.
i gave my boyfriend a gift certificate to a Himalayan Salt Spa and he had an hour in a floatation tank and also in the ion salt lamp meditation room.
what a sweet young lady you are to be so thoughtful!

Don't by the man a star or bit of the planet, It will be a behind your back joke among his friends. I'm not trying to be mean by telling you that. What are his hobbies??????? Your gift doesn't have to be unsual. Men are more into gifts that make sense and that they will actually use. I'm not saying go buy a shirt or something, buy something that pertains to something he loves to do and everytime he uses it, he will think of you.

I saw in an ad that you can buy a piece of the ocean floor, why you would want to is beyond me but people do. You can also have a star named after him and they give you a map to help you find it in the sky. You could get him personalized gifts like if hes a golfer you can get golf balls with his name on them or something of that nature.

depending on what you are both into you could try one of the red letter days or as another idea you can buy a cow/goat that gets goes to a family in the developing world, that way you have a gift and it helps people along the way. i think you can do it through oxfam but there's bound to be other websites that offer a similar thing.

I don't know your boyfriend...but I have found that guys tend to like gifts they can use. Not that your ideas are not good, but unless he is big into the stars or astronomy, I don't think its the winner. What are things that he likes to do. Is he a big sports buff. See if you can find an autographed ball from one of his favorite athletes. Does he like golf....buy him some lessons with a golf pro, or tickets to a major golf tournament. Does he like to kick....a grill. Is he a big humanitarian, make a date to give blood to the blood bank, or donate money to a charity in his name.

I personally think the star gift idea is gay, i wouldn't want that, but each person is different. Look at what he's in to and go from there. sporting event tickets are always good if he's into that, or a years subscription to his favorite magazine or football games.

Too be honest, that is corny and mostg guys don't go for that sort of thing. Women like those sorts fo things and you are thinking through your eyes instead of his. Guys are more practical. But...if you want to get him something unusual try buying him one share of stock in something cool and get him the stock certificate framed. I recommend something cool like Harley Davidson or anything else that he might be interested in that is cool and manly. Stay away from sappy stuff. Make it something he would be proud to show his friends, not your girlfriends....

Oh books are great gifts to give! I like to give funny books like garfield etc. Some other nice unquie gifts might be something useful like mp3 players or electronics.
