I'm a lifelong 49er fan. I watched in agony last year as they struggled to get a win--and failed miserably at it. I have faith in Nolan and his vision for the team--but it iwll take time.
I watched the preseason game the other night and thought Alex Smith looked improved. He was moving in and out of the pocket rather well and getting completions down the field. People rag on the guy--but he WAS a rookie last year. It does take time to develop your talent because college ball is way different than NFL play. With Johnson back and healthy, a vastly improving Smith and Turner calling the shots with the offense, I think they have a shot at winning some games (I've seen thier schedule and they have some tough teams to play this year)--but they won't be taking over the NFC West for some time yet. They are still rebuilding.

Unlikely
San Francisco - If it wasn't for these guys, the Packers would own the cellar. This is a franchise that has been a disaster since head coach Steve Mariucci was fired. Is QB Alex Smith a bust? Can Frank Gore carry the load? Why has Kevan Barlow flamed out? Those are all questions that need to be answered. At least Vernon Davis will entertain the crowd, assuming Smith can get him the ball. Another horrific year is in store for the putrid 49ers.

It's always good to be optimistic, but I think that the '9ers even contending in the NFC West is unlikely. With all that offensive firepower in Arizona and the fact that Seattle simply can't be beat at home. As a matter of fact I think it's pretty safe to assume that the '9ers still have the worst offense in the NFC West. I mean, without a doubt. It is always good to be optimistic though, and if that offense pulled of something spectacular this year, it'd be amazing to watch, so I hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I won't be.

of direction he can; did you spot what he did with the Rams and the Lions? as a head coach he's a splash iffy yet once you supply him limited ability he's a great coach. 49ers do have greater beneficial than basically Frank Gore. Vernon Davis(who has the checklist for the quickest time by utilising a good end interior the NFL integrate) and Alex Smith (who remains youthful) the two have authentic stable up aspects they only decide for somebody to place them in positions to apply their expertise greater useful and Martz is that guy. take a seem at what he did to Steven Jackson, Marc Bulger, and Calvin Johnson. it might artwork out basically high-quality.

Not a chance. I'm a Niners fan and they will stink again this year. But they're possibly building something decent. They need some solid WR's and they need to revamp the D. And York needs to sell the goddamned team... but that's a different story all together.

No. The Seattle offense is still intact and playing like a well-oiled machine. Until the Niners prove themselves through a sixteen game season, they are only a 6-win team.
Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Are you serious? Not with the current ownership. they don't care about thier fans just themselves. They will be lucky - lucky - if they even break .500 this year. I have been a 9ers fan for 20 years and have never seen it as bad as last year. Don't let a crappy Bears preseason game give you delusions of granduer. We need Debartelo and Walsh running things like they used to!

They might be able to win in pre-season, but thats only cause none of the good teams care.. Steelers, New England, and Indianapolis all lose games in pre-season, teams like Houston, and San Fran, are still awful.. Arizona might be the best team in that division this year, them or Seattle will win again..
