Having really thought about your question- I find I'm being a bit poetic, so...
Do I really feel proud and good about myself?
I have climbed a mountain, I have fallen off one.
I have learned war and the value of peace.
I have almost drowned twice, and learned to scuba dive.
I have been loved and lost it,
Thought I loved and lost it,
Found true love and kept it.
I lied, cheated and stole,
I enforced the law, learned the law, and made new law.
I have been shot at, spit upon, and dog bit,
As well as cuddled, hugged, and cherished,
I have ogled women,
And been ogled by both men and women.
I learned I was not gay, and found that there really is nothing wrong with that.
I have been a fool, been called wise, and learned how little I understand.
I have watched an ant climb a twig, and stared at the immensity of the universe,
Learned not to draw to an inside straight, and gone with my “feelings” playing poker,
Found that no issue is simply black or white, except to a dog.
I have been hated and feared, followed and listened to, but that never made me a better person.
When I was young I was called old, when older told to act my age, and learned how sexy grey is.
I like to talk, when I’m not listening.
I have been stoic, paranoid and distant,
and cried when the kid in the Coke commercial got the football jersey,
Told jokes, heard jokes and been a joke.
Laughed till I cried and cried till I laugh.
I learned that the worst thing that happens to you isn’t all that bad in the scheme of things.
My most importantly held opinions don’t mean anything to someone who disagrees.
Honest people do dishonest things, and the biggest crook in the world, isn’t.
And no problem is so big that you can’t share it and make it smaller.
No matter how drunk you are your’ still not as funny as you think.
...so who am I? I am not proud of myself, but I feel pretty good about myself, faults and all. Let's just say...
I am alive.
